I think the “jumpstart” that oil gave us is completely normal. Like a necessary transition-step, because going from nothing to industrial-level solar tech is hard.

Oil helped build the machine. It’s not the only option to power it anymore. Why shouldn’t it work out? — the means are there.

solar ‘alternatives’ deliver electricity
but the power we get from 2 wires is of no use whatsoever without the whirry whizzy things that allow us to put that energy to work.
to produce those things requires finite elements and compounds.
there are no ‘alternatives’ for those.
