A deterministic realism.

To me your arguments sound similar to those guys.

Eventually the universe will end through the heat-death. Why bother doing anything?

Is that (or a small scale version of it) the message?

If the world economy crashes abruptly, many people will die and we’ll have a setback of maybe up to 4000+ years. Everybody knows that…

What’s the use in talking about it then?

Quote:

“Imagine a habitable planet — -do you imagine we could go there and start over?

There are just too many of us. The solution to that is ultimately out of our hands”

That’s what I’m upset about. Why are you talking as if it’s already a lost cause?

We have a habitable planet right in front of us. It’s time to get rid of old-fashioned concepts like “my country — your country”, Having more than you need to display status, etc.

If one doesn’t want it to change, then it is (as you say) impossible.

We have 173 000 terawatts continuosly reaching the earth. Electrolysis to generate molecular hydrogen. Use oil for better things than burning it.

If we can talk about how to contribute in moving towards a better version of this world, alright.

If for you, the only option is less people living on this planet, then we can stop discussing.

I read it’s going to plateau at around 10bn anyway, why is that 1bn so important?
